Make a difference

In the Summer of 2013, Toronto Community Housing launched the YouthWorx program in eleven operating units across the city. The program was an integral component of Toronto Community Housing’s Year of the Youth commitment to the economic and skills development of youth. Since launching, YouthWorx has expanded to include our seniors’ portfolios, and provides assistance to thirteen operating units. YouthWorx employs young people in the months of July and August in various small scale labour jobs, including community clean ups, community gardening and beautification (weed pulling, basic shrub pruning), light cleaning and painting. The position also includes weekly paid training sessions on leadership, employment and life skills.

The contract term for this position will be approximately 8 weeks, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

You are required to work 9 am to 5 pm during the day, including the occasional evenings, commencing July- August.

What You'll Do

Liaises with Site leads to set up daily schedule of tasks. Small scale outdoor jobs including: litter pick up, light pruning, and painting Community Beautification projects including basic shrub pruning, weed pulling, planting, etc. Reports and documents any problems, incidents or unusual occurrences to supervisor in a timely manner Other related duties as assigned

What You'll Need

Experience doing community projects/ work. Knowledge of Toronto Community Housing Communities Excellent Team Player Community outreach experience Proven organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
