About the Opportunity

The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a Kids Recreation Camp Summer Student based in Lake Country, BC.

Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Summer Students will be asked to inspire young campers (ages 6-14) in a fun, safe, and engaging environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your leadership skills and deliver a variety of sports, games, and physical activities during the summer months.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, organize, and facilitate a variety of games, recreational activities, team challenges, creative play, and outdoor programming;
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for children of all skill levels;
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants through supervision and adherence to camp guidelines;
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment and play areas each day;
  • Communicate effectively with parents, campers, and other staff members;
  • Manage group behaviour in a fun and respectful manner;
  • Support the overall camp program and assist with additional duties as assigned.

More About You

To qualify for this role, you must be a student and returning to post-secondary studies in the fall of 2026. You must have experience working with children in a camp, coaching, or education setting and have knowledge of various sports and physical activities. You possess strong leadership and communication skills and have the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You must have a valid CPR/First Aid certification or the willingness to obtain prior to the start date. Additionally, a satisfactory Police Information Check is required.

About the Benefits

  • You will receive a competitive salary of $21.04 per hour (2026 rate) plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits;
