Hiring Unit: Equity Team in the Office of the Provost and Vice President (Academic) Position Summary: The Equity Team is seeking a part-time Program Assistant (student position) to support the implementation of the McGill Accessibility Strategy and related accessibility initiatives across the university. Reporting to the Accessibility Advisor, this role will support the coordination and day-to-day logistics of a range of accessibility initiatives, including committee work, project tracking, communications, and events. The position is ideal for a graduate student who enjoys organizing complex projects, working collaboratively with different stakeholders, and contributing to meaningful institutional change. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping accessibility initiatives move forward across the university. This includes supporting working groups and committees, helping coordinate projects and events, and contributing to communications and engagement efforts. The role requires someone who is organized, reliable, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple moving pieces at once, while handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. This position offers hands-on experience in project coordination, accessibility practice, institutional change, and community engagement within a large and dynamic university environment. Key Responsibilities Accessibility Strategy Coordination Coordinate meetings for subcommittees and working groups (scheduling, agendas, materials, follow-ups) Track action items, timelines, and deliverables across multiple initiatives Support communication and follow-up between stakeholders to help maintain momentum across projects Project and Workflow Support Help maintain an overview of ongoing accessibility initiatives and priorities Assist in coordinating activities across different streams of work Help identify and flag delays, gaps, or coordination needs Use Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and related tools to support scheduling, communication, and documentation Central Accommodation Fund – Operational Support Support post-decision coordination (e.g., vendor follow-ups, tracking requests) Assist in maintaining records and tracking timelines and expenditures Support logistical follow-up related to accommodation requests Communications, Events, and Initiative Support Support routine communications and updates related to accessibility initiatives Assist with updating website content and preparing basic materials Provide logistical support for events, workshops, and committee activities Assist with coordination involving speakers, partners, and vendors, as needed Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s or PhD) Eligible for McGill’s Work Study Program Strong organizational and coordination skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Teams (scheduling, coordination, communication, and file management) Interest in accessibility, equity, inclusion, community engagement, or institutional change is an asset Experience with project coordination, committee work, event support, or related activities is an asset familiarity with disability communities, accessibility work, or disability-related issues is an asset Lived experience of disability is a strong asset Some flexibility is required, as workload may vary depending on project and event timelines Why Join Us This role offers the opportunity to contribute to accessibility initiatives that aim to make the university more inclusive, equitable, and welcoming for disabled students, staff, faculty, and community members.
