Nature of the work

The principal and customary work of the Maintenance Workman, Class II consists in carrying out minor maintenance work to ensure that the offices and other premises of the institution are clear and in good condition. In general, the employee performs his or her duties under the supervision and according to the instructions of a maintenance workman of a higher class, as caretaker, or a foreman.

Description of tasks

The employee is responsible for trimming grass and weeds around school buildings, fences, sidewalks, and other hard-to-reach areas using a weedeater. They ensure the school grounds remain neat and well-maintained by regularly cutting overgrown vegetation. Additional duties may include basic equipment maintenance and following safety protocols while operating the weedeater.
